Preview of Group D at ESL One Cologne 2015

This is the ESL One Cologne Group Stage Preview

Esports tournament ESL One Cologne is set to take place from August 20-23 in Germany. With 16 teams competing for a $250,000 prize pool and the support of Valve through stickers, this event is considered one of the biggest and most prestigious tournaments in CS:GO.

Group D Analysis: Virtus.pro, Mousesports, Cloud9, and Immunity

Virtus.pro is the expected winner of Group D, but this group is one of the most difficult due to the number of teams that could potentially come out on top. Virtus.pro, Mousesports, and Cloud9 are all top 6 teams in the world, making the competition fierce. However, historical results show that Virtus.pro has consistently beaten Cloud9 while losing to Mouz. The order of the games will be crucial in determining the outcome. The winner of the Mousesports vs. Cloud9 match will face the winner of Virtus.pro vs. Immunity match according to the schedule released by HLTV.

If Mousesports can beat Cloud9, they will have an advantage going into the match against Virtus.pro. However, if C9 wins against Mouse, they will most likely lose to VP again.

Virtus.Pro Analysis

Virtus.pro has been declining since 2014 but managed to bounce back after realizing their mistakes. The team made a significant lineup change by giving Neo the AWP role and having Pasha focus on rifling. This change has worked well for them, with Neo excelling as an AWPer and Pasha stepping up as a high-impact fragger. The only concern is whether Neo can maintain his performance level. Virtus.pro is strong on maps like Overpass, Mirage, Train, and Cache.

Mousesports Analysis

Mousesports has become one of the best teams in the world, thanks to Nex’s breakthrough as a top-tier rifler and Gob B’s tactical approach. ChrisJ has also shown improvement on LAN events. The team relies heavily on Nex’s exceptional skills and struggles when he is not performing at his best. Mousesports has had success against Virtus.pro on Train, Mirage, and Cache but struggles against them on Dust2. The map veto will play a crucial role in their matchup.

Cloud9 Analysis

Cloud9 has surprised everyone with strong performances recently, earning three consecutive second-place finishes. Shroud and Skadoodle form a formidable duo, supported by the shotcalling of Sean and the entry-fragging skills of Freakazoid. The team is known for their tactical approach and effective use of Molotov and smokes. Cloud9 excels on maps like Cache, Train, and Dust2 but historically struggles against Virtus.pro.

Immunity Analysis

Immunity has not been active recently and their last results are not impressive. They are one of the weakest teams in the tournament and unlikely to pose a challenge to other teams in Group D.
