The First Counter Strike Major Preview: Group C
The Counter Strike major is coming up fast, and it’s time to decide which eight teams will join the eight “Legends” from Dreamhack Cluj-Napoca in MLG Columbus. In this preview, we will take a closer look at the teams in Group C and provide predictions for the upcoming matches.
Counter Logic Gaming (CLG)
Counter Logic Gaming (CLG) is known for being one of the most consistent and solid teams in North America. With three majors under their belt, they are looking to qualify for their fourth major in a row. CLG has had a strong start to 2016, performing well both offline and online. Although they struggled in recent online matches, they managed to beat C9 in the Dreamhack Masters Malmo qualifier. Keep an eye on JDM64, the star player of this team, as he will have a big impact on their performance.
Vexed
Vexed, the second-best team in Poland after Virtus Pro, is aiming for their third straight major appearance. While they didn’t perform well in recent tournaments, I believe they have the potential to turn things around. Vexed made a name for themselves by qualifying for the Cologne major, and I expect them to perform well in Columbus as well.
Splyce
Splyce is a newly announced team that will be replacing Mongolz in this major. This will be their first major LAN and their first chance to qualify as a team. They performed well in the MLG North America Minor Championships but struggled online since then. As the underdog in this group, Splyce will have to rely on their best players, especially Professor Chaos, to stand a chance against the other teams.
SK Gaming
SK Gaming, the third-best team in Denmark, is aiming to secure a major spot for the first time. With their newest addition, Pimp, formerly from Dignitas, I believe SK Gaming has the potential to do well in this group. Although they didn’t find success in their last offline performance, they were able to beat Navi in online play. If they play their cards right, they could secure a spot in MLG Columbus.
