OpTic unveils fresh CS:GO team from India

OpTic Gaming Announces Acquisition of Team from India

OpTic Gaming has expanded its roster by adding a Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team from India, the organization announced on Twitter today. The team, previously known as AFK Gaming, features players Nikhil “forsaken” Kumawat, Rishab “formless” Tomar, Sabyasachi “antidote” Bose, Agneya “marzil” Koushik, and Vishal “haiVaan” Sharma.

OpTic Gaming Expanding Beyond North America

OpTic Gaming has been replacing its North American players over the past couple of years, and now it seems the organization is venturing into new territories. Just last month, OpTic finalized its all-Danish roster consisting of top-tier players. Now, the organization is shifting its focus to India.

New OpTic Roster May Face Restricted Participation in International Tournaments

It is unlikely that OpTic’s new Indian roster will be able to compete in major international events alongside the organization’s main Danish team due to tournament organizers and Valve rules, which generally permit only one team per organization. This rule is in place to prevent conflicts of interest among multiple teams owned by one organization. Other teams in a similar position include Astralis and Heroic’s RFRSH, as well as SK Gaming and Virtus Pro’s ESForce.

AFK Gaming Co-founder Excited for Partnership with OpTic

OpTic’s Twitter announcement regarding the Indian roster received some negative comments, but AFK’s co-founder Siddharth Nayyar emphasized that the move aims to foster growth in the Indian esports scene. Nayyar stated, “OpTic India is that big break that we’ve all been waiting for. All of us at AFK Gaming are extremely happy and excited about working with such like-minded professionals and contributing to the scene’s growth.”
