OpTic and SK Secure Spots for ESL Pro League Season Six Finals

The Playoff Picture Becomes Clear as SK Gaming and OpTic Gaming Clinch Spots in ESL Pro League Season Six Finals

SK Gaming and OpTic Gaming have secured their spots in the ESL Pro League season six finals by dominating the North American region with impressive 16-6 records. SK claimed the first seed position by one point, earning a total of 49 points compared to OpTic’s 48. This point was secured by forcing an overtime against Splyce in a match last week, although SK ultimately lost the game.

SK Gaming Secures Number One Playoff Seed

Yesterday, SK Gaming solidified their position as the number one seed by defeating Ghost Gaming in two maps, Inferno and Cobblestone. Marcelo “coldzera” David and Fernando “fer” Alvarenga performed exceptionally well, with coldzera delivering an impressive 31 kills on Inferno, and fer achieving an average damage per round of 123.2 with 25 kills in the close Cobblestone victory of 16-13.

OpTic Gaming’s Loss Hinders First Place Spot

OpTic Gaming had the opportunity to secure the top seed but suffered a 14-16 loss to CLG on Train in round 30, which ultimately cost them first place in the league. However, they bounced back and defeated CLG convincingly with a 16-1 win on Cache to secure their spot in the playoffs. A second loss to CLG would have put the opposition in contention for the number two seed, as they currently sit in third place with 42 points, compared to OpTic’s 48.

Playoff Picture Takes Shape

The North American playoff picture is shaping up to include SK, OpTic, CLG, Team Liquid, Luminosity Gaming, and Misfits. Cloud9, a semifinalist at the recent ELEAGUE CS:GO Premier, will need a strong performance against Team Liquid and Misfits in online play to qualify for the season six finals.

The final week of season six starts on November 7th, during which the final four playoff spots for the region will be determined.
