Na’Vi dominates NRG on their home ground, securing victory at StarSeries Season 5

Natus Vincere Clinches First CS:GO Title of the Year at StarSeries Season Five

Ukrainian team Natus Vincere (Na’Vi) emerged victorious as the champions of the recent StarSeries Season Five CS:GO tournament, securing their first title win of the year.

The grand finals took place in Kiev, giving Na’Vi the advantage of playing in front of a home crowd. Going up against NRG Esports, Na’Vi showed their dominance by convincingly defeating their opponents. NRG chose Overpass as their map, while Na’Vi selected Mirage. The decider map for the grand finals was Nuke.

The match started with Na’Vi taking a commanding lead of 7-0 on Overpass, but NRG managed to make a comeback with seven successful defensive rounds, bringing the score to 8-7 at halftime. A remarkable four-piece kill from Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev during the second pistol round extended Na’Vi’s lead against the North American team. With s1mple and Denis “electronic” Sharipov leading the kill count with 21 and 20 kills respectively, Na’Vi emerged victorious with a 16-8 scoreline, thanks to their impressive CT side performance.

On Mirage, NRG put up strong defenses against Na’Vi, but still found themselves trailing at halftime with a score of 9-6. In the end, Na’Vi dominated NRG’s T side, allowing only successful executes from the North American team. Mirage concluded with a score of 16-7, and surprisingly, Egor “flamie” Vasilyev surpassed s1mple in kill count with 27 kills.

By winning StarSeries Season Five, Na’Vi joins the ranks of other top CS:GO teams such as Astralis and FaZe Clan as champions at the international level. After falling short in recent events like DreamHack Masters Marseille and StarLadder Season Four, Na’Vi finally lifted a trophy, with s1mple being the MVP of the tournament. This victory marks Na’Vi’s first championship win since DreamHack Winter last December.

Unfortunately, Na’Vi will not be competing in the upcoming ECS Season Five Finals, a major CS:GO event scheduled for June 8 to 10.
