MIBR Set to Face BIG for ESL One Cologne Playoff Spot

Brazil’s MIBR narrowly survives in ESL One Cologne

In their debut at ESL One Cologne, MIBR, Brazil’s leading Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) team, managed to secure a critical victory to stay in the tournament.

MIBR, comprised of the former SK Gaming CS:GO roster, played a closely contested three-map series against North. The Brazilians eventually emerged victorious with a 2-1 scoreline. This means that MIBR only needs one more win to reach the playoffs of the $300,000 event.

Despite being recognized as one of the strongest teams in CS:GO history, MIBR has had a challenging year in terms of results. Their match against North was no exception, as they had to overcome a tough challenge to secure the win.

MIBR started off poorly on the first map Mirage, losing 11 rounds to North in the opening half. Although they made a comeback in the second half, it was not enough to prevent North from closing out the map before reaching overtime.

However, MIBR looked much more comfortable in the second map, Overpass, and never gave North an opportunity to strike back after a dominant first half. The series concluded on Inferno, where MIBR once again staged a comeback, thanks in large part to an impressive performance by Marcelo “coldzera” David, who delivered an outstanding 33 kills on the final map alone.

On the other hand, BIG managed to eliminate Renegades in a closely contested 2-1 series. Despite the three maps being evenly matched, BIG emerged as the victors after a total of 91 rounds. They will now face MIBR for a chance to compete in front of their home crowd at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne.
