Luminosity emerges victorious at MLG Columbus 2016

Luminosity Gaming Wins First-Ever Valve Major

Luminosity Gaming, a Brazilian squad, has emerged as the champions of the MLG Columbus Valve major, solidifying their place among the top Counter-Strike teams in the world. They defeated Natus Vincere with a 2-0 victory, showcasing their dominance and potential to be the best.

Tense Overtime Victory

The first map of the series went into overtime, creating an intense atmosphere. Luminosity managed to secure the win, and it seems that this close victory may have affected Na`Vi’s mental game.

Luminosity’s Stellar Performance

On the second map, Luminosity completely outclassed Na`Vi. Only one player from Na`Vi managed to achieve more than 10 kills, while Luminosity’s in-game leader and captain, Gabriel “Fallen” Toledo, led the charge with 21 kills and just six deaths on Overpass. However, Marcelo “Coldzera” David proved to be the deadliest player for Luminosity throughout the series, earning the MVP title for the tournament. He finished with an impressive KD ratio of +84 over the nine maps played.

Rewards and Achievements

Luminosity’s victory earned them a hefty prize of $500,000, while Na`Vi secured $150,000 for their second-place finish and guaranteed qualification for the next Valve Major.

From Eighth to World Champions

Luminosity’s journey is truly remarkable. Just a year ago, they placed eighth at the major in Katowice, and now they stand as the well-deserved champions of the world, cementing their place in Counter-Strike history.
