Immortals triumph over Virtus Pro and hushen the spirited Polish crowd at the PGL Major

The $1 million PGL Major in Krakow, Poland is coming to a close with the grand final set. Immortals shocked fans by defeating Virtus Pro on their home turf.

Immortals chose Inferno as their first map pick, while VP went with Mirage. The match decider was Cobblestone, as Immortals vetoed Train.

Inferno:

Immortals took advantage of VP’s overly aggressive playstyle to gain a strong lead in the first half. Despite some rounds won by a triple-AWP setup from VP, Immortals finished the half with an 11-4 score.

The second half was even more dominant for Immortals, as they coordinated their defense to prevent a comeback from VP. They closed out the map with a dominant 16-5 score, with Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles leading the way with 25 frags and an average damage per round of 111.3.

Mirage:

Immortals started strong on the Counter-Terrorist side, building a 5-0 lead. VP managed to gain some momentum with a one-on-four clutch from pashaBiceps, but Immortals held their ground and ended the first half 11-4.

A pistol round win from Virtus Pro brought them back into the game, winning six rounds on their Counter-Terrorist eco. However, Immortals regrouped and closed out the map with a 16-11 score.

Despite being the underdogs, Immortals stunned the crowd by sweeping Virtus Pro 2-0.

The grand final:

Immortals made history as the first challenger team to advance to a major grand final. Their victory over Virtus Pro earned them a chance to compete for the major title against Gambit.

A brand new major champion will be crowned tomorrow as Counter-Strike reaches its exciting conclusion.
