Championship Sunday: Quarter Finals
Ninjas in Pyjamas and Team Dignitas faced off in a best of 3 match at Gfinity 3, attracting one of the largest crowds of the weekend. After under-performing on Day 1, many wondered if NiP would bounce back.
First Map: Cache
The game started with NiP rushing A warehouse, but Dignitas picked them off and dominated the next 7 rounds after winning the pistol round. NiP managed to plant the bomb and secure their first win, but Dignitas fought back and won the next 4 rounds. In round 13, NiP changed tactics and successfully planted the bomb in Site B, eliminating the remaining Dignitas team. Dignitas won the next round and went into the second half with a score of 12-3.
After the switch, Dignitas won the pistol round and defended the bomb site in the next round. NiP invested their economy into armor and grenades, but Dignitas managed to pick them off and defuse the bomb. Dignitas continued to dominate, making the score 15-3. NiP fought back in the last round with f0rest getting a triple kill, but Dignitas quickly ended the first map with a score of 16-4 in their favor.
Second Map: Inferno
Dignitas started strong, picking up early kills, planting the bomb, defending the site, and winning the first round. They extended their lead to 3-0, but NiP retaliated and secured their first round win. NiP then crushed Dignitas on their eco round to tie the game. Dignitas picked up 5 rounds in quick succession, but NiP responded with GeT_RiGhT clutching a 3 piece and a defuse to win the round. The first half ended with a score of 9-6 in favor of Dignitas.
NiP started the second half strong, defending the bomb and winning the pistol round. They tied the game 9-9 by crushing Dignitas’ eco rounds. Dignitas fought back and won the next 2 rounds. NiP closed the gap with some well-placed defending, making the score 11-10. Dignitas then extended their lead without much trouble from NiP.
In the final round, NiP rushed onto A site too late and Dignitas shut down their attack, winning the game 16-11.
Team Dignitas won the match 2-0 and advanced to the Semi-Finals, while NiP took the loss and prepared for ESL 1 Cologne.
