Gfinity III: The Biggest Multi-platform eSports Event in the UK
Gfinity III is the third annual Gfinity event and is being considered as the largest multi-platform eSports event in the United Kingdom. Gfinity has quickly become one of the biggest eSports events in Europe. This year’s event will be held on August 2nd and 3rd at the Copper Box Arena at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park. Admission is £22.00 ($37.35) per day and tickets can be purchased on the Gfinity website.
Now, let’s get to the main topic – CounterStrike! For the first time, Gfinity is featuring CS: GO with 12 teams competing. Nine teams received invitations to compete and three teams earned their spots through qualifiers.
The Teams
The nine invited teams are: Epsilon eSports, ESG! Fnatic, iBUYPOWER, Ninjas in Pyjamas, Team Infused, Team Dignitas, Titan eSports, and Virtus.pro. Joining them are three teams that had to qualify – Mousesports, London Conspiracy, and FM Esports.
The Prize Pool
The CS: GO tournament has a prize pool of $45,000, which is one of the largest for any CS: GO event this year. The winner of the tournament will receive $20,000 and a slot in the 2014 Electronic Sports World Cup. If the winning team already has a guaranteed slot, it will be given to the second-place team. The rest of the prize pool breakdown is as follows: second place receives $10,000, third and fourth receive $5,000 each, and fifth through eighth place will be awarded $1,250 each.
