G2 Esports Secures Spot in ELEAGUE Premier Playoffs
G2 Esports had a remarkable comeback on Saturday, clinching their spot in the ELEAGUE Premier playoffs. They defeated both Natus Vincere and Renegades in best-of-three series play, winning each series with clean two-game sweeps. This allowed them to secure their place in the playoffs and seek revenge against Na`Vi for their earlier loss.
A Comeback Victory on Cobblestone
On the opening map, Cobblestone, G2 had a slow start but managed to win nine out of the final 10 rounds in the first half. Although Na`Vi made a comeback by winning five consecutive rounds at the start of the second half, G2 responded by winning seven of the final eight rounds to secure a 16-12 victory.
G2’s Dominance on Inferno
The second map of the series, Inferno, initially seemed like a sure win for Na`Vi as they took a commanding 10-0 lead. However, G2 rallied and won 16 of the next 20 rounds, completing their clean sweep of Na`Vi.
KennyS Shines as G2’s Lead Performer
Kenny “kennyS” Schrub was the standout player for G2, showcasing his exceptional AWP skills and accumulating an impressive 52 frags across both maps.
First Blood Against Renegades
G2 had an easier time against Renegades earlier in the day. Renegades only managed to win a total of 11 rounds across the two maps, with G2 dominating both games with 13-2 halftime leads. This effectively crushed any hopes Renegades had for an upset victory.
KennyS once again performed exceptionally against Renegades, securing a combined 44 frags with only 18 deaths. Although Renegades players Keith “NAF” Markovic and Aaron “AZR” Ward put up a fight, their teammates were unable to match the strength of the defending DreamHack Masters champions.
G2 Esports Advances to the ELEAGUE Premier Playoffs
G2 Esports now joins FaZe Clan in the ELEAGUE Premier playoff round. The remaining six teams will be determined as the group stage unfolds over the next three weeks.
