G2 Esports Introduces New CS:GO Roster, Dubbed the French “Superteam”

Major Roster Changes for G2 Esports in CS:GO

G2 Esports, one of the top teams in the French Counter-Strike: Global Offensive scene, has announced some significant roster changes.

G2 Esports has formed a new roster consisting of former EnVyUs players Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, and Dan “apEX” Madesclaire. The team will also include G2 mainstays Richard “shox” Papillon and Alexandre “bodyy” Pinaro. Additionally, long-standing AWPer Edouard “SmithZz” Dobourdeaux will be transitioning from a player role to a coach.

The French Shuffle and G2’s New Team

This announcement from G2 Esports comes after Flickshot published a report a couple of months ago, which referred to the French shuffle. The majority of the former CS:GO roster will not be continuing with the team in 2017, confirming the accuracy of the report. Only shox and bodyy from the 2016 roster remain.

Significance of the Roster Changes

This is a major move within the French CS:GO scene. KennyS, apEX, and NBK are all Valve Major champions and have achieved success in various international LANs under the EnVyUs banner. Both kennyS and apEX are recognized as some of the best players in the game due to their exceptional individual performances.

Speculation on the Reasons Behind the Shuffle

The roster changes took place shortly after the ELEAGUE Major, where neither EnVyUs nor G2 made it past the group stage. It is unclear if the performance at the ELEAGUE Major influenced the decision, as rumors of a “French shuffle” had been circulating since December of the previous year.
