G2 dominates Luminosity in the ECS grand final

G2 Esports Dominates Luminosity in Esports Championship Series Finals

In a thrilling rematch of the ESL Pro League Season 3 grand final, G2 Esports emerged victorious over Luminosity Gaming in the finals of the Esports Championship Series today.

G2 Esports, led by Richard “shox” Papillon, initially faced a setback at the $765,000 event in London, losing to Team Liquid in the early stages. To secure their spot in the playoffs, G2 had to win two best-of-three series, eliminating Ninjas in Pyjamas and getting revenge on Team Liquid.

In the semifinals, G2 faced Fnatic, who had made a strong comeback in the ELEAGUE group stage with the return of olofmeister. However, G2 surprised everyone with a dominant 16-2 victory on Overpass, showcasing outstanding performances from shox, ScreaM, and RpK. Their average damage per round scores exceeded 100.

On their homecourt Dust2, G2 continued their strong performance against Fnatic, closing out the map and series with a comfortable 16-11 scoreline.

Now, G2 faced a rematch against Luminosity in the grand finals. The crowd at Wembley Arena was electric, but the match itself was completely one-sided. G2 dominated the reigning major champions, never letting up their aggression and only giving away 16 rounds throughout the series.

With ESL One Cologne just two weeks away, G2 Esports seems to be in prime position to make a strong statement at the upcoming major.
