Fnatic’s victory over G2 causes tilt at the PGL Major

Fnatic Secures Sixth Quarterfinal Spot at PGL Major

Fnatic has secured the sixth quarterfinal spot at the PGL Major in Krakow, Poland after winning the first elimination match of round five. The team opted to compete on Overpass against G2 Esports, a decision that proved to be successful in their final match of the Major group stage.

Overpass: Fnatic’s Impressive Performance

Fnatic started off strong on Overpass, executing explosive strategies as Terrorists, winning six rounds in a row against an emotional G2. Despite a technical pause, G2 managed to pick up a few rounds on defense, changing the pace of the game. Fnatic, however, extended their lead with quasi force buys towards the end of the first half, resulting in an 11-4 score.

G2 Fights Back, but Falls Short

G2 fought back after winning the second pistol round, imposing economic struggles on Fnatic. However, Fnatic halted G2’s comeback at 10 points and countered with coordinated retakes and defenses. In the end, Fnatic eliminated G2 with a final score of 16-10 on Overpass.

G2’s Heartbreaking Loss

G2’s loss to Fnatic means they are out of the Krakow group stage, finishing with a 2-3 record. On the other hand, Fnatic, now with Legend status, advances to the quarterfinals of the playoffs at the Polish Tauron Arena, where they will compete for a larger portion of the $1 million prize purse.
