Fnatic Takes on the World: A Final Recap

Inferences from Fnatic vs Top Competitors

Here are some notable insights from my recent series on Fnatic versus their top competitors in esports:

Toughest Opponent: Astralis

Fnatic Takes on the World: A Final Recap

Astralis has proven to be Fnatic’s toughest opponent. They are the only team with a positive record against Fnatic in best-of series matches, both offline and online. Astralis has secured 21 maps to Fnatic’s 19 in offline competition. However, they fail to maintain that dominance in online play, which gives the overall advantage to Fnatic.

It should be noted that Astralis’ success against Fnatic came early on in the matchup. They won the first four series matches in offline play but lost three out of the next nine. Nevertheless, Astralis remains the only team to maintain an advantage against Fnatic in offline play.

Easiest Opponent: Luminosity?

Fnatic Takes on the World: A Final Recap

While Luminosity holds the worst record against Fnatic, it’s arguable if they are truly the easiest opponent. The latest iteration of Luminosity has shown intense and highly competitive rivalry, only falling short at the final hurdle. In comparison, Virtus.Pro has a miserable winrate of 20% in online matches, and Na`Vi has a marginally better 23% winrate in offline matches against Fnatic. Luminosity has played significantly fewer games than their peers, so it may be fairer to say that LG, Virtus.Pro, and Na`Vi all share the title of easiest opponent.

Most Popular Map: Inferno

Fnatic’s most comfortable map against top tier competition is Inferno. They have an impressive 70% winrate on this map, which has been played 17 more times than the next closest map, Mirage. Fnatic has an 8-0 record over Virtus.Pro on Inferno and a 5-0 record over Na`Vi in offline play.

It’s unfortunate that Inferno has been eliminated from the map pool, as it was a popular, historic map.

Least Popular Map: Overpass

Overpass is the least popular map for Fnatic, excluding Season and Nuke. They have only played 22 maps on Overpass against their top opponents, which is nine less than Train. However, Fnatic maintains an impressive 73% winrate on this map. Their versatility in the map pool is remarkable.

Most Common Opponent: Astralis

Interestingly, Fnatic’s toughest opponent, Astralis, is also their most common opponent. The matchup between Fnatic and Astralis has seen a total of 67 games, with Fnatic currently leading 35-32. This rivalry provides us with interesting and competitive spectacles.

Unfortunately, with olof on the sidelines, this thrilling rivalry will have to wait for a true battle. Hopefully, Astralis can overcome their choking issue and provide us with a grand-final worthy performance.

Fnatic Takes on the World: A Final Recap

Total Games: 309

Fnatic has played a total of 309 maps against their top competitors. They have won 198 of those maps, with only 109 losses. Two maps ended in a tie against Virtus.Pro. This gives Fnatic a 64% winrate against the top 6 teams over the last two years. Astralis is responsible for 32 of Fnatic’s losses, followed by EnVyUs with 25, NiP with 21, Virtus.Pro with 16, Na`Vi with 11, and Luminosity with 4. It’s important to note that Luminosity has played the fewest games against Fnatic.

Playing 309 games against the top six teams within two years is impressive. Fnatic’s future may be uncertain with olof’s injury, but their past success is undeniable.
