Fnatic outplays G2 Esports’ ‘super team’ to secure spot at IEM Katowice

Miraculous Victory for Fnatic After Roster Move

Just hours after a significant roster change, one of the most legendary teams in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive managed to qualify for a major upcoming event.

Fnatic, who recently announced the return of two veteran players, Robin “flusha” Rönnquist and Jesper “jw” Wecksell, successfully secured their spot in the $250,000 IEM Katowice tournament next month.

Impressive Performance by Fnatic in Qualifier

Fnatic’s journey through the qualifier began with an impressive 2-1 victory over mousesports. Notably, jw excelled in the final two maps, showcasing his skills and adaptability. This trend continued throughout Fnatic’s matches in the qualifier, with both flusha and jw proving to be invaluable assets for the team.

In their final match of the evening, Fnatic exceeded expectations once again by defeating the newly formed French “super team” of G2 Esports. Despite the formidable lineup consisting of former EnVyUs players Nathan “NBK” Schmitt, Dan “apEX” Madesclaire, and Kenny “kennyS” Schrub, G2 Esports could not withstand Fnatic’s onslaught and lost in both maps of the series.

Celebrating their victory, Fnatic COO Patrik “cArn” Sattermon took a dig at their opponents on Twitter.

Although this iteration of Fnatic reunites their most successful roster, the manner in which they won both series last night is undoubtedly impressive. Neither jw nor flusha have competed with Fnatic since August 2016, when they left the squad to join their Swedish rivals, GODSENT, in a controversial roster shuffle.

GODSENT, on the other hand, faced an early exit in the qualifier after losing to Tricked and Mousesports.

Fnatic Secures IEM Katowice Spot

Fnatic is the first out of four teams to qualify for IEM Katowice through the qualifier. The remaining three teams will be decided later today. They will be joining invited teams such as Astralis, Cloud9, FaZe Clan, Ninjas in Pyjamas, North, OpTic, SK Gaming, and Virtus Pro.
