FaZe and Astralis advance to the grand finals at IEM Sydney

IEM Sydney Semifinals: FaZe Clan and Astralis Advance

Last night, the semifinals of IEM Sydney took place, leading to the grand final matchup. FaZe Clan and Astralis emerged victorious in their matches against TyLoo and Mousesports, respectively. The two teams will now face off in a best-of-five to determine the winner of the $250,000 event in Australia.

FaZe Clan vs. TyLoo

TyLoo and FaZe battled it out on their map picks, Cache and Inferno. FaZe seemed to have control for most of the game, although TyLoo put up a good fight, winning four out of six pistol rounds. HaoWen “somebody” Xu played exceptionally well for TyLoo, but NiKo’s impact-fragging abilities on Cache and Mirage kept TyLoo at bay.

Results:

  • FaZe won Cache 16-9
  • TyLoo won Inferno 16-9
  • FaZe won Mirage 16-9

Astralis vs. Mousesports

The semifinal between Astralis and Mousesports had more one-sided results. Astralis dominated the series, with Map two Inferno being the most contested. Mouz put up a good fight, but Astralis ultimately came out on top. Map two went to overtime, with Mouz securing the win, but they were then defeated on Cache.

Results:

  • Astralis won Dust II 16-3
  • Mouz won Inferno 19-17
  • Astralis won Cache 16-5

The grand final of IEM Sydney will take place tomorrow at 12am CT, following the “Caches showmatch” between Australians and Englishmen.
