F.C. Copenhagen Signs Former Dignitas Player: Analysis of Press Conference

FC Copenhagen and Nordisk Film Launch “North” Esports Team

FC Copenhagen and Nordisk Film have teamed up to launch a new esports team called “North.” The team aims to become one of the biggest esports brands in Europe and has already signed the ex-Dignitas Counter Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) lineup. While the team was not officially announced in person, they were present at a press conference where they were available for interviews. The companies behind North, including FC Copenhagen, Nordisk Film, and Egmont Media, also plan to produce media content and organize events for the team.

New Appointments and Ambitions

At the press conference, the newly appointed CGO of North, Maelk, along with representatives from FC Copenhagen and the media companies, answered questions from journalists. One notable statement made at the conference was that the companies behind North would be investing millions of Danish Kroner into the project. North also has ambitious plans for the future, aiming to dominate internationally and expand into other games such as Dota 2 and FIFA. In 2018, they hope to bring a major Counter-Strike tournament to their stadium, Telia Parken, and fill it with 40,000 to 50,000 live spectators. Their focus is on the global market rather than just the Danish league.

The View on Esports

Anders Hørsholt, the CEO of FC Copenhagen, emphasized that esports should be considered a sport, as the players work in a highly competitive environment and aim to perform at the highest level. Their goal for 2017 is to be ranked in the top 3 in the world for Counter-Strike and expand their brand by adding new teams. North player Ruben ‘RUBINO’ Villarroel also expressed his gratitude towards the situation in a Twitlonger. Are you excited about North’s future under FC Copenhagen?
