End of an Era: Legendary Fnatic Roster Disbands Following Player Swap

Famous CS:GO team undergoes major roster changes

One of the most well-known teams in the history of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive has made significant changes to its roster, with three players deciding to leave the team.

Robin “flusha” Rönnquist, Jesper “JW” Wecksell, and Freddy “krimz” Johansson will now be playing for GODSENT, alongside former Fnatic player Markus “pronax” Wallsten. In fact, four members of the lineup that won the first-ever major in November 2013 now play for GODSENT.

Meanwhile, Fnatic will welcome GODSENT players Jonas “lekr0” Olofsson and Simon “twist” Eliasson, as well as the team’s substitute player John “wenton” Eriksson.

Fnatic will have to requalify for Valve’s major circuit, as most of its starting lineup has left the team. This also means that GODSENT will take Fnatic’s spot and receive an automatic invitation to the next CS:GO major.

This news has shocked the Swedish scene, as Fnatic started 2016 as the top team in the world, winning six consecutive international competitions. Former Fnatic player JW expressed his sadness about the changes, saying, “Our results have not been satisfying to all of us lately and I guess you can say that these internal pressures test friendships… Thank you to all who’ve been a part of that journey.”

Fnatic has struggled since April when star player Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer was injured and had to take a two-month break. Even after his return in June, the team was never as dominant and failed to win at ESL One Cologne major and the ELEAGUE Season 1 finals.

The new GODSENT roster will make its debut tonight at 1pm CT in the ESL-ESEA Pro-League Wild Card match against Virtus Pro.
