Dev1ce set to make comeback in Astralis lineup for ELEAGUE Boston Major

Danish AWPer Dev1ce Returns to Astralis for ELEAGUE Boston Major

Danish AWPer Nicolai “Dev1ce” Reedtz is set to make his highly anticipated return to Astralis just in time for the ELEAGUE Boston Major. Dev1ce confirmed his comeback through an Instagram story, where he shared a picture of himself at a bootcamp with the team. Alongside the photo, he captioned, “Guess who’s back,” while showcasing his teammates Peter “dupreeh” Rothmann and Andreas “Xyp9x” Højsleth on camera. Dev1ce has also been streaming FACEIT Pro League pick-up games, showing his return to form.

Dev1ce’s Medical Leave and Temporary Replacements

Dev1ce was placed on medical leave in November due to possible complications related to a Hiatal Hernia diagnosed in March 2017. During his absence, Dennis Edman and Ruben “RUBINO” Villarroel filled in for Dev1ce at various tournaments. Dupreeh temporarily took over the main AWP role for Astralis.

The Importance of Dev1ce’s Return

If Dev1ce had been unable to return, Astralis would have had to field their coach, Danny “zonic” Sørensen, for the Boston Major due to roster rules. However, Dev1ce’s participation ensures the team can compete at full strength.

Dev1ce’s Comeback and Future Events

The ELEAGUE Boston Major will mark Dev1ce’s first event since IEM Oakland, where Astralis was eliminated in the group stage. The team left the tournament early due to Dev1ce’s health issues and was subsequently fined by ESL for failing to fulfill media obligations. Dev1ce will return to competitive Counter-Strike next week, as the New Legends stage of the Major begins on January 19.
