CS:GO’s Next Pistol to Undergo Redesign: The Five-Seven

New Update for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is set to receive another highly anticipated update, this time focusing on the pistols.

The Five-Seven Counter-Terrorist pistol is undergoing changes that have both positive and negative effects, as seen in the beta pre-release. Valve has improved its rapid fire accuracy and reduced its moving accuracy, with the intention to reward tactical positioning and defensive play.

Valve is committed to emphasizing the skillful use of pistols, which is great news for players.

The Tec-9 Nerf

Last week, the Tec-9 underwent a similar change, but it was a more drastic nerf compared to the Five-Seven. The most significant difference lies in the increased rapid fire accuracy of the Five-Seven. On the other hand, the spamming feature of the $500 Terrorist pistol has become ineffective due to high inaccuracy.

However, the most important change to the Five-Seven is its reduced moving accuracy. This means that hyper-aggressive five-man eco rush strategies may no longer work for Counter-Terrorists. The same change to the Tec-9 made it harder for players to win eco rounds.

Possible Future Changes

Given the quick succession of pistol changes in August, it is likely that the next pistol to be reworked could be the P250, according to the pistol meta hierarchy. This change may even occur before the upcoming event, DreamHack Masters Malmo, taking place from August 30th to September 3rd.
