Mikhail “Dosia” Stolyarov Makes History in Counter-Strike
Last week, Mikhail “Dosia” Stolyarov, known as the X God, made a highlight reel play during the PGL Major that will go down in Counter-Strike history.
Dosia managed to inflict economic damage on the Immortals team, despite losing the round and risking his own life. This calculated move paid off in the long run for his team, Gambit, as they went on to win their first major championship with a score of 16-10 on Inferno.
At the time of the play, the Brazilian players from Immortals didn’t want to risk losing their weapons to preserve their economy, as they were facing a 9-1 deficit. To avoid being exit fragged, they hid in the pit after the bomb explosion on the A site. Dosia saw this opportunity and threw a grenade at two Immortals players who were saving their weapons. He knew that Immortals’ economy was already struggling, so killing them with a grenade would be a major blow. His impressive play forced Immortals to spend over $7,000 in the following round to buy new weapons and equipment.
This play gained so much attention that a Reddit post was made about it, titled “Dosia 200 IQ Nade,” praising Dosia’s brilliant move.
Dosia joins the elite group of Counter-Strike: Global Offensive legends who have been immortalized with their own graffiti on Active Duty maps such as Overpass, Cache, and Mirage. Other players who have received this honor include Marcelo “coldzera” David, Oleksandr “s1mple” Kostyliev, and Olof “olofmeister” Kajbjer. The last addition to the graffiti collection was coldzera’s jumping AWP collateral double kill against Team Liquid at MLG Columbus in April 2016.
Dosia’s graffiti, however, is the only one to be added to CS:GO in 2017 since the next Valve Major won’t be until early 2018. He also holds the distinction of being the first player to have graffiti on the revamped version of Inferno.
