CS:GO Mod Seeks to Embrace the Essence of the Wild West

CS:GO Western Add-on: A New Direction for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

Two skilled players, Jarro and CTX, known for their popular custom maps, are taking Counter-Strike: Global Offensive to the Wild West. They have launched a crowdfunding campaign to develop a fully functional add-on that includes combat on horseback and larger maps. Their goal is to release the CS:GO Western Add-on within the next 6-8 weeks.

The crowdfunding campaign aims to raise $1,000, with additional goals set at $400 and $700. These goals will fund dedicated servers for game testing and the creation of unique assets and expansive maps for the mod.

If the crowdfunding goals are met, the mod will be distributed for free through the Steam Workshop. Valve, the creators of CS:GO, encourage modders to create custom games based on their intellectual property. The success of Counter-Strike itself, which started as a mod for Valve’s Half-Life franchise, is a testament to this.

The mod is planned to feature three game modes: player vs. player, team-based hostage scenarios, and a linear gameplay map with cut scenes and co-op gameplay options.

If you’re eagerly awaiting Red Dead Redemption 2 or the next season of Westworld, the CS:GO Western Add-on will keep you entertained in the meantime.
