Cloud9 releases top CS2 player after disappointing performance

Cloud9 Parts Ways with electroNic after PGL Copenhagen Major

After the conclusion of the PGL Copenhagen Major, Cloud9 has announced that they are bidding farewell to electroNic, one of their star players.

ElectroNic Joins Virtus.pro

The organization made the announcement on April 15 that electroNic is leaving the team and immediately transferring to Virtus.pro, another prominent Counter-Strike 2 team.

Mir Relegated to the Bench as electroNic Takes His Place

Virtus.pro revealed that the 25-year-old electroNic will be replacing mir in the Counter-Strike 2 lineup. Mir will now be relegated to the bench.

ElectroNic expressed his excitement about joining Virtus.pro, stating, “Virtus.pro is a top team. The core of the roster has won a Major not long ago, and all the players are in their prime and ready for victories right now. We share the same ambitions and goals. Besides, I’m also excited about the idea of playing with Jame, as he’s one of the most unique IGLs in the game.”

VP’s Recent Performance

While Virtus.pro has won a Major in the past, they have struggled to replicate that success in recent months. The team did not make it to the playoffs of the PGL Copenhagen Counter-Strike 2 Major and lost to G2 Esports in the quarterfinals of the IEM Chengdu 2024 tournament.

Implications for Cloud9

With Virtus.pro’s lackluster performance, Cloud9’s decision to part ways with electroNic may not come as a surprise. This trade could potentially benefit Cloud9, as they have been playing without a proper AWPer for months and can now search for a suitable replacement.

The identity of C9’s next AWPer remains uncertain. However, considering that the team is now predominantly Russian, fluency in the language would be a significant factor.
