Cloud9 finds new form as Dignitas stumbles in ESL Pro League finals

The Latest Surprise at the International Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Tournament in Brazil

The highly anticipated Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament in Brazil has already provided some unexpected twists. Dignitas, the tournament favorites who recently won their first major LAN victory at Epicenter, have been eliminated from the $500,000 event.

Dignitas Stumbles in the Group Stage

After defeating NRG eSports and Ninjas in Pyjamas, Dignitas seemed on track to advance out of their group. However, the Danish roster faltered against FaZe and SK Gaming, putting them in a must-win situation against Cloud9.

Cloud9 Delivers a Surprising Upset

On Mirage, Dignitas started strong with a 9-6 lead in the first half. Cloud9 appeared to be struggling, particularly Michael “shroud” Grzesiek. However, Cloud9 bounced back and secured seven consecutive round wins, preventing Dignitas from breaking through their defense. In the end, Dignitas lost 13-16.

Cloud9’s Potential Comeback

This win for Cloud9 may indicate a return to form after a period of lesser success. Though they have performed well in smaller LAN competitions, Cloud9 has struggled to secure first-place finishes. Tyler “Skadoodle” Latham, their renowned sniper, has recently been in a slump. However, Jake “Stewie2k” Yip and Timothy “autimatic” Ta have emerged as dominant players for the team.

The Quarter Finals Match-ups

Cloud9 will face domestic rivals OpTic Gaming in the quarter finals, while Ninjas in Pyjamas will compete against Mousesports. The winners of these matches will go on to face SK Gaming and OpTic Gaming in the semi-finals respectively.
