Booth Setup Problems in StarLadder Season 2

StarLadder Season 2 Faces Issue of Potential Cheating

The ongoing StarLadder Season 2 tournament has encountered a new problem – potential cheating. The issue arises from the lack of covered or blacked out player booths on both sides of the LAN, allowing players to see the spectator’s screen situated in the middle of the main stage. The spectator’s screen displays crucial information like bomb defuse time and the remaining health of live players.

This becomes significant because in competitive games, the “damage dealt” is not shown. As a result, players always have to assume their enemies have maximum health. However, if a player knows the remaining health of an opponent, they can strategically use weapons or playstyles that provide an advantage to win the round.

Currently, no players have been called out for actively looking at the spectator’s screen. Nevertheless, passive glances at the screen cannot be avoided if a player looks towards their teammates.

This issue can be attributed solely to StarLadder’s mistake of overlooking or neglecting the simple task of covering the booths. As of now, they have not issued an official statement regarding the matter.

While the impact of this issue may not be enormous, as it only provides a small advantage, it is crucial for StarLadder to promptly address and rectify the situation to maintain competitive integrity on an even playing field.
