Announcement of $20K ESL Australia ‘ZEN Invitational/Offline Qualifier’

ZEN Esports Network Invitational: A $20,000 Prize Pool Tournament in Melbourne

ESL Australia has recently announced the ZEN Esports Network Invitational, a highly anticipated event featuring a $20,000 prize pool. This invitational will take place in Melbourne at the Palms Resort on Jan. 14-15.

Offline Qualifier: Battle for a Spot in ZEN Esports Network Season 1 League

The qualifiers for the ZEN Esports Network Season 1 League will also be held in Melbourne, on Jan. 14. Team Immunity, Parallax, Grimmy Bankers, and Legacy eSport’s will be competing for two spots in the league. This league is unique, as it will include four teams from Australia and four teams from Asia, making it a truly international competition.

Grimmy Bankers and Legacy eSport’s Controversial Journey

Grimmy Bankers and Legacy eSport’s teams will be participating in the Offline Qualifier, coming from a previous Open Qualifier marred by scheduling and roster issues, as well as allegations of cheating. In contrast, Team Immunity and Grimmy Bankers qualified for the tournament after performing well in the ESL ANZ Season 2 Championship held in November.

Invitational Tournament: A Battle of Qualified Teams

The Invitational portion of the ZEN Esports Network event will feature a $20,000 prize pool and two qualified members from ZEN League Season 1, namely Tainted Minds and Chiefs eSport’s Club. These two teams will be competing against two unnamed high-profile guest lineups, providing an exciting match-up. Last year’s event saw teams like Cloud9 and Virtus.pro attending, so the guest lineups could be from anywhere. Both Tainted Minds and Chiefs eSport’s Club earned their spot in the invitational through their grand final appearance at the ESL ANZ Season 2 Championship.

This event holds great significance for the Oceanic esports scene, as it provides an opportunity for young players to gain valuable experience playing against international teams. Additionally, it brings much-needed stability to a scene that has been plagued by gossip and drama among the professionals.

Tickets for this event are already available for purchase here.
