Almost finished: ELEAGUE’s CS:GO European qualifiers

Season Two of ELEAGUE Counter-Strike Begins with European Closed Qualifier

The second season of TBS’ ELEAGUE Counter-Strike competition is underway, with the European closed qualifier starting yesterday.

In this tournament, some of the best European teams are competing against squads that qualified through the open qualifiers. Their goal is to earn one of the four spots in the $1.4 million league. The main league, taking place at the Turner studios in Atlanta, will commence next month.

G2 Esports Secures Victory, Moves on to Face Kinguin

G2 Esports easily defeated the ironically named Walkovers side in the European open qualifiers. Walkovers earned their spot in the closed qualifier by defeating eSuba in the final European open. However, G2 Esports proved to be too strong for the Danish team. G2 will now face Kinguin in a crucial match to determine which team qualifies for ELEAGUE. Kinguin emerged victorious in their first round match against Tricked Esports. Though G2 Esports is favored to win, they must be cautious of Kinguin, the second-best team from Poland behind Virtus Pro.

Team Dignitas and Gambit Gaming Prepare for Battle

Team Dignitas also secured a victory in the first round of the closed qualifier. After a surprising performance from their relatively unknown opponents, they defeated the Kazakh lineup Tengri 2-1. However, their temporary relief will be short-lived as they prepare to face Gambit Gaming. Gambit had no trouble defeating Swedish side Passions and aim to continue their strong run from earlier in the year, where they were considered potential tier one candidates at the majors.

FaZe Clan Goes Head-to-Head with Xpresive Club

Lithuanian side Xpresive Club gave FaZe Clan a tough challenge by winning the opening game dominantly. However, FaZe, the heavy favorites, came back to secure victory and set up a match against Hellraisers. The Ukrainians have not been in the best form recently, making FaZe the clear favorites. Allu, FaZe’s new addition, will need to be on top form for the team to advance without any worries.

Godsent Faces Alternate Attax in Final Matchup

The final matchup of the day features one of the best teams in the world, Godsent. After a shocking roster swap with Fnatic, Godsent faced no issues in defeating Norwegian side Deadweight. They are now determined to secure a quick and easy qualification by defeating Alternate Attax. The German team surprised everyone by defeating Flipsid3 in the first round, but defeating Godsent will be a much tougher challenge for them.
