Alleged Stream-Sniping Incident Involving Davey during IEM Katowice Online Qualifier for Splyce

Splyce Player Accused of Stream-Sniping in IEM Katowice Open Qualifier

Last night, Splyce’s David “Davey” Stafford faced accusations of stream-sniping against Etherian Esports during the semifinals of the online qualifier for ESL’s $500,000 event. The 21-year-old player was heard discussing Etherian’s in-game economy in the game chat during the broadcast.

Controversy Surrounding Davey’s Actions

Davey’s actions in the game chat have caused a stir, with many accusing him of stream-sniping. However, Splyce went on to win the game 16-9 and eventually emerged victorious in the finals against compLexity Gaming, earning themselves a spot in the Closed Qualifier. The team is set to play in the upcoming closed qualifier, which will determine who gets to compete in the main international event in Katowice, Poland in February.

Davey Denies the Allegations on Twitter

Despite the accusations, Davey took to Twitter to deny the stream-sniping claims. He argued that he was engaged in a debate with his teammate and claimed that it was just a joke in bad taste. Splyce co-owner Marty Strenczewilk also defended Davey, stating that it was a harmless comment.

No Official Statement from Splyce Yet

As of now, the Splyce organization has not released an official statement regarding these allegations.
