The Transformation of NiP: From Unbreakable Core to New Beginnings
The NiP teams of CS:GO were once known for their unbreakable core and past championship glory that kept them together, even in the face of failure and disappointment. However, as FNATIC embraced change and adaptation to the game’s evolving eras, NiP began to resemble the entrenched establishment of their past. The roles have now reversed, with NiP adopting the spirit of FNATIC and seeking to surpass their former glory.
Cracking the Core
In the eyes of many, the core of NiP consisted of GeT_RiGhT, f0rest, Xizt, and friberg. But this also applies to the original five members who started their journey in CS:GO, including fifflaren. While NiP’s major victory in 2014 is often considered their defining moment, their fall from grace had already begun before that triumph. The addition of new players like Maikelele, allu, and pyth revitalized the team temporarily, but ultimately led to a decline in performance. There were moments of success, but NiP was far from their former dominance.
The Floodgates
As time went on, NiP faced even more challenges. Failing to qualify for majors resulted in roster changes, with draken replacing pyth and friberg stepping aside. The team’s performance dwindled, and even with new additions, they struggled to break into the top rankings. While they had an exceptional moment of glory at IEM Oakland, defeating the world’s top two teams, it was clear that NiP was no longer a championship-level squad. With Xizt’s time coming to an end, only GeT_RiGhT and f0rest remained from the original core.
New Ninjas
Today, NiP has transformed into a new team. Embracing young talents like REZ and lekr0, and adding dennis to their roster, they have embraced change and reinvented their playing style. Success has yet to come, but the feeling among onlookers is that this new NiP has the potential to find success. If this specific lineup doesn’t deliver results, there is hope that the team will be open to recruiting and adapting in the future. A new dawn is on the horizon for NiP.
