$200,000 Mykonos event brings Counter-Strike to Greece

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive Sets its Sights on Eastern Europe

Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS:GO) is headed to Eastern Europe for an exciting tournament that aims to recreate the laid back and enjoyable atmosphere of BeyondTheSummit’s cs_summit event in Los Angeles.

The tournament, called Mykonos 2017, will be hosted by Electronic Sports Global (ESG), a rising tournament host organized by PvPRO.com. With a prize pool of €200,000, the event will take place from September 7 to 10. The invited teams include Gambit Esports, SK Gaming, Virtus Pro, Mousesports, Team Liquid, BIG, and Heroic. The eighth spot will be determined through a closed online qualifier.

ESG aims to create a fun experience for players, deviating from the usual qualifier, group stage, and double-elimination playoff bracket format. The tournament organizer has made the Mykonos event private, held at the Destiny Villa. This stunning venue offers two houses, two pools, and a breathtaking view of the Aegean Sea.

Just like Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, two lucky golden ticket winners—one from Europe and one from North America—will have the exclusive opportunity to attend the event as VIP guests. ESG will choose these winners through a raffle, although the entry methods have yet to be announced.

ESG seems to have a long-term commitment to the CS:GO scene, as the top three teams from the Mykonos event will receive invitations to their upcoming event, which is yet to be revealed.

Fortunately, this four-day event provides a much-needed break for viewers who are exhausted from week-long tournaments. Additionally, it gives players the chance to relax and enjoy CS:GO after the intense competition at DreamHack Malmö from August 30 to September 3.
