100 Thieves opts out of participation in the ELEAGUE Major: Boston

Brazilian CS:GO team 100 Thieves Unable to Compete at ELEAGUE Major Due to Immigration Issues

100 Thieves, the Brazilian Counter-Strike: Global Offensive team, will not be able to compete at the ELEAGUE Major: Boston due to immigration issues. They will be replaced, as announced by ELEAGUE.

This news comes after the conclusion of the first day of the major, where the New Challengers Stage began. This stage will continue until January 15th. The New Legends Stage, which is scheduled to start on January 19th, will see the surviving eight Challengers and the eight Legends competing.

100 Thieves Signs New Roster, But Faces Visa Issues

The team composed of Vito “kNg” Giuseppe, Henrique “HEN1” Teles, Lucas “LUCAS1” Teles, Lincoln “fnx” Lau, and Bruno “BIT” Fukuda was signed on December 12th after the departure of kNg, HEN1, and LUCAS1 from Immortals. 100 Thieves acquired the ELEAGUE Major spot due to having a majority of the former IMT roster.

However, 100 Thieves faced visa problems and was not able to secure visas for the players. The organization released a statement on Twitter, apologizing to fans and explaining the efforts made to obtain the visas with the help of immigration lawyers. The statement also expressed excitement about the team’s future competitions.

Replacement for 100 Thieves to Be Chosen Through Decider Matches

ELEAGUE announced that a replacement team for 100 Thieves will be chosen through decider matches, developed in collaboration with Valve. The replacement team will be selected from the teams that finished The New Challenger stage with a 2-3 record and faced the strongest performing opponents.

With one more spot in the New Legends Stage now open, the 16 participating teams have even more motivation to compete. The New Challenger Stage will continue with the second day of action, featuring a match between Team Liquid and FlipSid3 Tactics at 10am ET.
