Removal of a Troublesome, Overpowered SMG from Ranked Play in MW3

A Game-Changing Update for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone

A new update has been released for Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone, and while it’s not packed with content, there’s a tweak that could potentially change the game.

The update primarily focuses on Ranked Play in Modern Warfare 3 multiplayer, offering significant implications for certain CoD players.

What to Expect from the Update

Here’s a breakdown of the changes included in today’s update for both Modern Warfare 3 and Warzone:

Modern Warfare 3 Patch Notes for April 23

The patch for Modern Warfare 3 on April 23 doesn’t introduce much new content or substantial changes. However, it does mark the conclusion of the weapon evaluation test period in Ranked Play, resulting in the re-restriction of the BP50, Holger 556, MTZ-556, HRM-9, and RAM-9.

Surprisingly, the WSP Swarm has also been restricted, eliciting mixed reactions from players across various social media platforms.

Aside from these weapon-related changes, the update addresses fixes for progression, issues on newer maps, and an exploit involving Rear Grips on handguns that previously allowed players to gain an unfair advantage.

Warzone Fixes

As for Warzone, the update contains three separate fixes. These include addressing collision issues on Rebirth Island, fixing the gas mask animation glitch, and resolving an issue that prevented players in the passenger seat of a vehicle from using UAVs.

What’s Next

Treyarch, the developer of MW3, has stated that it will discuss its findings with the CDL and Sledgehammer Games regarding the test period weapons. Expect an update on their conclusions after the Season Three Reloaded patch, which is scheduled to arrive next week on May 1.
