Controversial Decision Divides CoD Players Regarding Removal of All Snipers from MW3 Ranked Play

Controversy Surrounds Removal of Sniper Rifles in MW3 Ranked Play

In an effort to comply with CDL regulations, a recent update on Feb. 13 in Modern Warfare 3 (MW3) saw the removal of all sniper rifles from Ranked Play. However, the decision has sparked heated debate among players who can’t seem to agree on its merits.

Sniper Rifles Get the Boot in Season Two Update

Treyarch, the developers of MW3, made a significant change in the season two update by eliminating several sniper rifles from the weapon pool in Ranked Play. The SVA 545, RAM-7, BP50, HRM-9, RAM-9, and XRK Stalker were all taken out of the equation. This move was met with mixed reactions from the gaming community.

Further Restrictions in Feb. 13 Update

Yet, Treyarch took things a step further in the Feb. 13 update by implementing additional restrictions. The last remaining sniper rifle in the weapon pool was also removed, leaving players with only the MCW as their option for an Assault Rifle.
