2024 Major IV event to be played without live audience
The upcoming Major IV event for the Call of Duty League will be following in the footsteps of last year’s season and will not be played in front of a live audience.
Carolina Royal Ravens withdraw as hosts
The Carolina Royal Ravens, initially chosen as the hosts for Major IV LAN event this year, has announced that they will no longer be hosting the event. The decision was made due to a range of factors. As a result, the tournament for Modern Warfare 3 will now be played on LAN, but without any fans in attendance.
Carolina Royal Ravens express disappointment
The Carolina Royal Ravens issued a statement expressing their understanding of the fans’ disappointment and their commitment to putting on a future event that fans can be proud of. The team is looking forward to showcasing their skills in their hometown.
Similar situation to the previous Major IV
This situation mirrors last year’s Major IV, which was originally supposed to be hosted in New York but had to be moved due to unforeseen circumstances. The competition ended up being held on LAN in Columbus, Ohio, without any fans. This year, although the location is different, the event will also be played on LAN without a live audience.
According to the CDL, the Major IV tournament will now take place in Burbank, California, instead of Charlotte. The matches will still be played on LAN, but without live spectators. The change in location will also result in a one-week shift in the schedule, allowing teams to have the standard one-week break after the Majors.
Carolina Royal Ravens’ debut season
This is the first season for the Carolina Royal Ravens in the Call of Duty League. Previously based in London, the team has relocated and currently occupies the eighth position in the season standings. They hold a five-CDL Point lead over Miami Heretics and Seattle Surge, putting them in contention for the final playoff spot.
Originally scheduled to begin on May 24, Major IV will now kick off a week later with online qualifiers.
