Riot Reveals Syndra’s Mid-Scopes Update: Unleashing True Power with a New and Lethal Late-Game Passive

Syndra’s Kit Getting Major Changes in Upcoming Update

Syndra, a popular champion in League of Legends, is set to receive significant changes to her abilities in Riot Games’ mid-scope update. These changes will mainly focus on her passive, potentially altering her power curve throughout the game.

Tim “Truexy” Jiang, an associate game designer, explained that the goal is to preserve Syndra’s core gameplay while enhancing her passive to provide players with a greater impact as the game progresses. This upgrade aims to give players a true feeling of increased power.

New Passive Ability and its Mechanics

The most notable change is Syndra’s new passive, which introduces Splinters of Wrath as a collectible resource. There are three ways for players to obtain these splinters. The first method is by damaging an enemy with two abilities within four seconds, granting one, two, or three splinters depending on the level (one at levels one, 11, and 18). Leveling up grants five splinters, while killing a cannon minion earns a single splinter. Syndra can accumulate up to 120 splinters, and at that point, she will gain an additional 15% of her total AP. Furthermore, certain thresholds of splinters trigger modifications to her abilities.

Enhanced Abilities with Splinter Thresholds

Once Syndra has collected 40 splinters, her Q ability can store two charges with a one-second cooldown between casts. At 60 splinters, her Force of Will ability deals additional true damage, scaling with AP. Finally, at 80 splinters, her Scatter the Weak ability has an increased cone size and slows enemies by 70% for 1.25 seconds. Her ultimate ability also gains an execution effect on champions below 15% of their max health.

Damage adjustments have been made to Syndra’s Q, E, and ultimate to balance the impact of these changes and prevent her from becoming overpowered. However, these modifications are expected to make Syndra a formidable scaling threat and could potentially impact team compositions and strategies. It’s worth noting that the developers may further fine-tune her effectiveness before the update goes live.
