NRG eSports Ends the Contracts of Their League of Legends Team

NRG eSports has terminated the contracts of their entire team, following their relegation from the North American League Championship Series. Now, there are five new League of Legends players looking for a new home, as reported by ESPN. The terminated players include Diego “Quas” Ruiz, Lucas “Santorin” Tao Kilmer Larsen, Lee “GBM” Chang-seok, Oh “Ohq” Gyu-min, and Alan “KiWiKiD” Nguyen.

According to sources from ESPN, there was a performance-based clause in each player’s contract that allowed for termination if the team was relegated from the LCS. After losing to Echo Fox, the team was dropped to the Challenger Series.

The team’s manager, Barry “KoreanEdelweiss” Lee, tweeted that GBM and Ohq were headed back to Korea. The future of the rest of the team is uncertain, although Santorin is reportedly in high demand.

Earlier in the day, reports surfaced about Santorin and KiWiKiD parting ways with the organization, and now the termination of the remaining three players from NRG has been confirmed.
