Riot introduces LoL’s new Vampire Survivors-inspired PvE game mode

Players will swarm into League of Legends for the new PvE game mode set to arrive on the client with the summer event.

In the most recent Dev Update video, the League team revealed information about Swarm, a new game mode originally dubbed as a “bullet heaven survivor” event. The summer event, set to begin in mid-July, is reported to be centered on the Anima universe, with leaked skins indicating the return of the 2022 skin range.

While few official information have been revealed about Swarm, gamers may expect it to be similar to Vampire Survivors, with swarms of opponents and nearly impossible-to-beat bosses. Unlike the Poncle game’s single-player mode, Swarm will provide a cooperative gameplay environment in which players can face obstacles together.

The anticipation surrounding PvE events in League is always high, especially this time, given the success of previous iterations and the long years of yearning for a new one. However, because Swarm is linked to the summer festival, it is unlikely that this game mode will be available for more than two to three months. Still, it would not be shocking if gamers asked Riot to make it permanent—especially if they enjoy it as much as the Extraction or Invasion game modes.

However, while Riot Games has been working on bringing a new permanent game mode to League—Arena—Swarm is unlikely to be a long-term addition to the game. Riot may choose to return and develop the PvE mode for future events, giving players the opportunity to experience a different iteration of Swarm—perhaps for a Void-themed endgame event.

The summer event normally begins in early to mid-July, and players should expect Swarm to be available on the client once the Hall of Legends event honoring Faker concludes.
