League of Legends Bug Causes Champion to Disappear Mid-Gameplay
League of Legends, a popular online game, occasionally experiences bugs that result in unintended effects during gameplay. However, a recent bug has caused a champion to completely vanish from the game.
In a clip posted to Reddit featuring gameplay from Twitch streamer and former professional League player Imaqtpie, the enemy team’s Sona suddenly disappeared without a trace, leaving both teams confused. The Sona stopped displaying any animations before vanishing, although the player controlling the champion likely did not experience the same issue.
The Mysterious Vanishing Act
During the gameplay, Imaqtpie and his team were chasing the enemy Sona, who suddenly stopped moving as if she had given up. Despite the attempts from the opposing team, she did not take any damage. Then, in the blink of an eye, she disappeared as if her recall animation had been completed successfully, even though there wasn’t enough time for that animation to occur.
After witnessing this strange interaction, both teams immediately began questioning what had happened in the chat. The Sona had seemingly vanished without a trace, and there were no possible explanations for her disappearance. They ruled out the possibility of using an ability to escape or hiding in a specific location.
A Possible Explanation
Reddit users speculated that this issue could be due to a desync in the League servers. It’s possible that Sona was not actually in the position she appeared to be on other players’ screens. There may have been a delay in her movement, making it seem like she was running away and then standing still. By the time Imaqtpie and his team approached the Sona on their screens, she was likely already in her fountain, recalling or progressing forward.

Desyncing bugs have been present in League of Legends for years, and players have been reporting them without much action from the game developer, Riot. Bug reports can be submitted through the League client or the official support website.
