ROX Takes First Seed in Group A After Tiebreaker
ROX and ANX, both tied for first place in Group A, had to play a tiebreaker match to determine the first seed from the group.
Here is how the tiebreaker match unfolded:
ROX ANX
TOP: Smeb-Rumble Smurf-Gnar
JNG: Peanut-Elise PvPStejos-Graves
MID: Kuro-Ryze Kira-Viktor
ADC: PraY-Ezreal AMiracle-Lucian
SUP: GorillA-Karma Likkrit-Bard
BANS: Brand/Vladimir/Syndra Nidalee/Sivir/Olaf
Early Game: ROX’s Cheesy Strats
To take advantage of their strong poke in the bottom lane, ROX executed two different three/four man tower dives, securing four easy kills. From the start, ANX found themselves playing from behind as ROX punished every mistake, giving them a significant early game advantage. A 3.5k gold lead at 10 minutes and three kills for PraY meant ANX had a long road ahead to mount a comeback.
Mid Game: ANX Turtling
With an overall advantage in power and teamfight potential, ROX forced ANX to look for picks. Despite ANX’s efforts, ROX played flawlessly, denying any opportunities for ANX to capitalize. As ROX extended their lead, ANX grew complacent and repeatedly fell for CC during their attempts to take down ROX’s base.
Late Game: ROX Demonstrates Top Form
With a 10k gold lead, ROX had a strong advantage to close out the game. Following the trend of Worlds, ROX took a slow and methodical approach, forcing ANX into making poor decisions. Constant CC prevented key targets from ANX to make impactful plays, allowing ROX to slowly push into ANX’s base. With strong poke and high damage, ANX found themselves trapped in their base, giving ROX the freedom to secure the win.
ROX finishes with a 5-2 record, claiming the first seed in Group A, while ANX settles for the second seed with a 4-3 record heading into the quarterfinals.
