Who is Beyond Gaming in League of Legends?

The Excitement Builds for the 2022 League of Legends World Championship

The highly anticipated 2022 League of Legends World Championship is fast approaching, and the recent drawing of the play-in and group stage groups has only heightened the expectations.

The Play-in Stage: Group A

As usual, the play-in stage will kick off with two groups, each consisting of six teams. In Group A, two favorites from the Western region, Fnatic and Evil Geniuses, will face off against Beyond Gaming, the second seed from the PCS. Beyond Gaming may not be as well-known internationally, but their experience and individual skill make them a team to be respected.

Who are Beyond Gaming?

Last year at Worlds 2021, Beyond Gaming represented the PCS in their first international tournament. While they didn’t perform as well as they had hoped in Europe, finishing fourth in Group B of the play-in stage, they did make it to the knockout stage. There, they defeated Galatasaray Esports before being eliminated by Hanwha Life Esports.

A Consistent Core

Despite their disappointment in 2021, Beyond Gaming has made minimal changes to their roster for the 2022 season. Liang, HuSha, and Kino remain crucial members of the team, and their contribution helped secure their qualification for Worlds 2022. They may not have had the strongest regular season, but they showed their strength in the PCS Summer Split playoffs by defeating formidable opponents like J Team and PSG Talon.

Chances at Worlds 2022

Beyond Gaming will be up against tough competition at Worlds 2022, including Fnatic, Evil Geniuses, and DetonatioN FocusMe. However, with the improvements they’ve made over the past year, they shouldn’t be underestimated, especially considering the unpredictable nature of best-of-one games in the play-ins. While Fnatic and EG may be favored to advance to the group stage, Beyond Gaming is likely to secure a spot in the top four of Group A and move on to the knockout stage.

The Real Challenge

Once they reach the knockout stage, Beyond Gaming will face a formidable opponent from Group B, such as DRX, Royal Never Give Up, or MAD Lions. It will require a tremendous amount of effort and skill to overcome these teams. While Beyond Gaming proved they can handle wild card regions in best-of-five matches, they will face a significant challenge against these rivals.
