Afreeca deals Griffin their second loss in the LCK

Griffin’s Remarkable Rise in the LCK
Griffin, a team that began in the promotion tournament, has quickly climbed to the top of the LCK standings. Their near-perfect record earned them a well-deserved bonus. However, their progress was temporarily halted by the Afreeca Freecs in a recent match.

Afreeca Freecs’ Desperate Situation
Coming off a loss to KT Rolster, Afreeca Freecs found themselves in a dire situation. They were in danger of missing the playoffs, despite making it to the finals last split. Even against strong opponents like Griffin, they couldn’t afford to lose any more games.

Afreeca’s Dominance Against Griffin’s Funnel Comp
In the first game, Afreeca showed their desperation by dismantling Griffin’s funnel composition centered around Lucian. They won both side lanes and even scored First Blood in a bot lane outplay. With total vision control, they secured the Rift Herald and pushed down the mid lane. It was almost a perfect game for Afreeca, with the only blemish being a stolen Baron.

Griffin’s Attempt at a Comeback
In the second game, Griffin tried using a similar funnel composition, replacing the bot lane Swain with Shen. However, Afreeca once again got control over Kindred, a champion that was crucial for their victory in the first game. Despite Griffin’s efforts, they couldn’t stop Kindred from taking control of the game. Spirit and TusiN’s coordination was impeccable, allowing Afreeca to crush Griffin.

Afreeca’s Position in the Standings
With this win, Afreeca Freecs solidified their position in the standings, with seven wins, one above both Hanwha Life Esports and KT Rolster. However, both of these teams have a chance to catch up later in the week. With only five playoff spots available and SKT below them, every win will be crucial for Afreeca’s playoff hopes.
