Blizzard Might Enhance an Almost-Outdated Feature in The War Within – WoW News

The War Within Expansion Enters Fourth Week of Testing

The next World of Warcraft expansion, The War Within, is currently in its fourth week of testing as of May 9. This week’s build has introduced a host of new content for players to test out, including some buffs to a feature that was previously considered almost obsolete.

Increase in Movement Speed from Flight Paths

According to Wowhead, one of the new additions in The War Within is the ability to increase movement speed from flight paths after achieving the Khaz Algar Flight Master achievement. This achievement will grant a 25 percent increase in movement speed for all Warband characters, but it is limited to the Khaz Algar continent.

Discovering the Listed Flight Points

Obtaining the Khaz Algar Flight Master achievement should be fairly straightforward as long as players are able to discover the 22 listed flight points. Once achieved, the increase in movement speed will offer a convenient way to traverse the Khaz Algar continent.

The Rise of Dynamic Flying

In previous expansions, the introduction of increased movement speed from flight paths would have been a welcome addition. However, in The War Within, players now have the option of using Dynamic Flying (Dragonriding) right from the start. This new feature allows players to take control of a dragon and fly around the game world, bypassing the need for flight masters and their beasts. The flexibility and speed of Dynamic Flying make it a preferred choice for most players, except for situations where players may choose to use flight masters’ taxi option out of convenience or when they want to go AFK during longer journeys across multiple zones.

The Flight Master System: In Need of a Rework?

Despite the introduction of increased movement speed from flight paths in The War Within, it is unlikely to have a significant impact on early gameplay. Many players, including myself, would prefer to see a more substantial increase in movement speed or a complete rework of the flight master system. Rather than being just a method of transportation, the flight master system could function as a fast travel system, allowing players to instantly teleport to different locations without the need to fly or wait. It is surprising that the flight master system has remained mostly unchanged since WoW‘s release in 2004, considering the advancements in gameplay and technology over the years.

Release Schedule for The War Within

The War Within expansion is still in the early stages of testing and is currently scheduled to be released between the summer and autumn of this year. Players can look forward to exploring the new content and experiencing the changes and additions that The War Within brings to World of Warcraft.
