Rogue Makes History: Sweeping G2 in 2022 LEC Summer Finals to Secure First Trophy

Rogue Crowned Champions of LEC Summer Finals

Rogue emerged as the victors in an explosive series at the 2022 LEC Summer Finals. After a grueling battle against G2 Esports, they were crowned as the best team in the region. The intense match took place in front of thousands of passionate fans at the Malmö Arena in Sweden.

Rogue’s journey to the championship was anything but smooth. After a tough first-round match against MAD Lions, they suffered a crushing defeat at the hands of G2 Esports in the following round. Many expected Fnatic to easily topple Rogue after their weak performance, but Rogue proved them wrong with a dominating performance.

Rogue proved themselves worthy of the title by fighting their way to the top. Despite a lukewarm start to the split with a 4-5 record in the first half, they turned things around in the second half, winning eight out of their final nine games. Their impressive performance carried over to the playoffs, where they only dropped one game in two series, securing their spot in the Finals.

Rogue showcased their exceptional teamwork and skill throughout the series. Players like Malrang stood out with fearless plays and perfectly executed engages. Every member of Rogue had their shining moments as they achieved a well-deserved victory over one of the most formidable organizations in the league.

In game one, Rogue dominated the top lane by providing ample support to Odoamne’s Ornn. G2’s Broken Blade was rendered ineffective due to constant ganks, while the rest of the team struggled to gain an advantage in other lanes. With a winning matchup for Comp and Trymbi, Rogue had the upper hand in teamfights around the dragon, which ultimately turned the tide of the game and the series.

Rogue’s flexibility in drafts was on full display in game two, with their unconventional Caitlyn pick alongside Tahm Kench, countering G2’s short-ranged composition. Comp and Trymbi dominated the early game and maintained their lead in the later teamfights. Comp’s outstanding performance throughout the series earned him 24 kills, 14 assists, and the Finals MVP title.

Rogue has finally overcome their past struggles and secured their place in the history books. As a team that has always come close but never won a regional championship, this victory is a monumental milestone. It is also a special moment for Odoamne, who has achieved his first championship after seven years as a pro player. He now stands at the pinnacle of the league, proud of his accomplishments.

On the other hand, G2’s summer ended in disappointment. Caps, who had never lost a domestic final in his career, experienced defeat at the hands of Rogue. While there are positive aspects to take from this season, G2’s roster will surely be fueled by their discontent with this split’s conclusion.

The journey is not over for Rogue, G2 Esports, MAD Lions, and Fnatic. They must now shift their focus to the 2022 World Championship in October. European fans can cheer for their representatives as they cross the Atlantic Ocean to compete in the tournament, which kicks off on Thursday, Sept. 29.
