The Terrifying fusion of Randuin’s Omen and Thornmail

Combined crit-damage reduction from Randuin’s Omen with damage return from basic attacks of Thornmail is coming to League of Legends. The PBE, League’s player testing environment, has been undergoing a series of item changes in preparation for Patch 7.9, the mid-season update. This patch is known for introducing significant changes before the pre-season. Not only will there be changes to tank and ADC items, but also champion reworks for Sejuani, Maokai, and Zac.

One of the largest item changes on the PBE is to two staple tank items: Randuin’s Omen and Thornmail. Initially, Randuin’s Omen had its crit-damage reduction removed and its slow amount increased. However, the crit-damage reduction has now been reintroduced and increased by five percent to a total of 15 percent. In addition, Thornmail’s cost has been reduced to 1,200 gold and it is now a build component for Randuin’s Omen. When fully built, Randuin’s Omen will not only reduce critical strike damage but also return damage equal to 15 percent of the attacker’s armor on basic attacks (double for critical strikes).

This item combination will make it challenging for ADCs to auto-attack tanks without facing significant damage in return. It will have a strong impact on gameplay, and champions like Yasuo will be greatly affected.
