Team Liquid Officially Announces W33 as the New Addition Prior to the EPICENTER Major

Team Liquid Adds Aliwi “w33” Omar to Dota 2 Roster

Team Liquid has made its first roster change in over two years with the addition of Dota 2 veteran Aliwi “w33” Omar. This change comes just in time for the EPICENTER Major.

Lasse “MATUMBAMAN” Urpalainen has been placed on the inactive list, clearing the way for w33 to join the team.

The full Liquid roster has been seen practicing with w33, who will be taking on the mid-lane role for the team.

Known for his time with Team Secret and his strong performance at The International 2016 with Digital Chaos, w33 brings experience and new strategies to the table for Liquid. He is also known for his ability to surprise opponents with off-meta hero picks.

This season, w33 was trying to bring Chaos Esports Club back to the top ranks of the Dota Pro Circuit, but the team was not as competitive as desired. Chaos decided to leave South America and join the EU region, which resulted in w33 being placed on the inactive roster.

W33 has played with Liquid’s Maroun “GH” Merhej in the past and has also played with Amer “Miracle-” Al-Barkawi on the Balkan Bears in 2015.

It is rumored that Liquid made this roster change to make their drafts and rotations less predictable. The goal is to overcome situations where opponents counter pick them.

What to Expect from w33 at EPICENTER

W33’s addition to Liquid brings new options to the team, as he is known for his versatility and ability to play multiple heroes. Having players who can confidently play a variety of heroes gives Liquid an advantage moving forward.

The biggest question is how well w33 will fit into Liquid’s system at EPICENTER. While they have had limited time to practice together, w33’s experience and high-profile status in the current meta make him a promising addition.

Liquid has already secured a spot at TI9 in August, but their ultimate success this season will be determined by their performance against tough competitors like Team Secret.

The EPICENTER Major begins on June 22, with Liquid facing Gambit Esports in their first match.
