New Tera Type Mechanic Teased for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet in The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero DLC

During the big finish of the 2023 Pokémon World Championships, The Pokémon Company shared a sneak peek at the new stuff coming to Pokémon Scarlet and Violet. They showed something exciting for the DLC called The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero. This includes a cool new twist to Terastallization.

New Terastallization Twist

At the end of the latest DLC video, we got a glimpse of a new Terastallization feature. This feature uses all 18 types and shows a new Tera Symbol we’ve never seen before.

The preview showed Pokémon changing forms with Terastallization. It also showed different Tera Type symbols used in the main SV games. The new symbol popped up in a menu to select your Pokémon’s Terastallization. Then, in some gameplay clips, we saw it but not clearly.

This Tera symbol is colorful, with many shades looking like a rainbow. When looking closely, the move Tera Blast changes color to match this unique Tera symbol. It turns rainbow-colored. People think this might be a “19th Tera Type” with special features that any Pokémon can use. But, no official news is out yet.

More DLC Info

This short part of the trailer also confirmed new moves coming and that every Starter Pokémon will be back for the DLC expansion.
