Final piece of Kalos starter trio features in much-anticipated Pokémon Go Community Day

Get ready to end the summer with a bang in Pokémon Go. Froakie is taking center stage this August, as Niantic announced. This gives you the chance to catch one of the most loved Pokémon and its evolutions, sporting cool moves. Plus, their Shiny versions are coming to the game for the first time! This special day happens on Aug. 13 from 2 pm to 5 pm local time. Expect three times the catch Stardust, double the catch Candy, extra Candy XL, and more.

Why Froakie is Special

For three hours, Froakie, the Bubble Frog Pokémon, will take over the game. You’ll find it almost everywhere. To evolve Froakie into Frogadier, you need 25 Froakie Candies. Then, with 100 more, you can get Greninja. Froakie doesn’t show up much normally, so this is your chance to collect lots of Froakie Candies.

Exclusive Moves for Greninja

If you evolve Froakie into Greninja during the event or up to two hours later, it will learn special attacks. These are the Fast Attack Water Shuriken and Charge Attack Hydro Cannon. You can learn Water Shuriken later, but Hydro Cannon is only for Community Day. After that, you need an Elite Charged TM for it.

2023 Pokémon World Championships

This event lines up with the 2023 Pokémon World Championships. The best players from Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, the Pokémon TCG, Pokémon UNITE, and Pokémon Go will battle in Yokohama, Japan from Aug. 11 to 13. Niantic hinted at something special for Pokémon Go players during the championships. But, we’re waiting for more details.
