Wailmer and Wailord are ready to make a big wave in Pokémon Go. Now is your chance to catch them or find their Shiny versions.
These two giant Pokémon, inspired by real-life marine mammals, have been swimming in the game’s seas since the third generation. Before Eternatus showed up in Gen VIII with its huge size and Dynamax power, Wailord held the record as the longest Pokémon in the Pokédex.
With Eternatus not in Pokémon Go yet, Wailord claims the spot as the game’s biggest Pokémon. Thanks to their massive size, spotting Wailord and Wailmer shouldn’t be too tough.
How To Spot Wailmer and Wailord
You can find Wailmer in Pokémon Go in many ways. They often show up in the wild, but you might also see them in raids, eggs, and various Research tasks.
Keep an eye out for special events featuring Wailmer or Wailord. For instance, a Wailmer Spotlight Hour is coming on July 11, from 6pm to 7pm local time. Their spawn rate will jump up then, giving you a great shot at catching them and getting their Candy. You’ll need plenty of it.
To evolve Wailmer into Wailord, you need 400 Candy. That’s quite a bit, so using special events like Spotlight Hour can really help you stock up on Candy.
Chasing a Shiny Wailmer
If a Shiny Wailmer is what you’re after, they’re not too hard to find. They stand out with their purple color, different from the usual blue. The same goes for Shiny Wailord. You can find Shiny Wailmer in the same places as the regular ones, but catching one will take a bit of luck.
So, whether you’re hunting for the giant Wailord or its pre-evolution Wailmer, there are plenty of ways to find them in Pokémon Go. Keep an eye out for special events to help you gather Candy, and you might even come across a Shiny version if you’re lucky.
