How to Capture Galarian Zapdos in Pokémon Go

Pokémon Go is not always clear on how you can find rare Pokémon. However, Legendary ones often show up in raids. But, this is not true for Galarian Zapdos. You can only find this one through a daily game feature.

For those who missed it in Sword and Shield’s DLC, the Galarian forms of the Legendary trio from Kanto got a makeover. They have new looks, types, and moves. Galarian Zapdos, for instance, drops its Electric type for a Fighting type.

This version of Zapdos, looking more like a ground-based ostrich, is known as the Strong Legs Pokémon. It can still make electric currents when its feathers rub. A single kick can smash a dump truck, and it can sprint at over 180 miles per hour.

This fast speed is key in Pokémon Go because Galarian Zapdos often flees when you try to catch it.

How to Find Galarian Zapdos in Pokémon Go

Niantic made catching this unique Zapdos variant a challenge. They put it behind the Daily Adventure Incense. So, you can only encounter Galarian Zapdos once a day during a 15-minute window.

Game data shows all three Galarian birds have a 3% catch rate. But, they have a 90% chance to run after any direct interaction. Galarian Zapdos will likely run if you throw a Poké Ball at it. However, using Berries does not count as direct interaction, so those are safe to use.

You get one chance each day for 15 minutes to meet Galarian Zapdos. Missing your chance hurts more than with other rare finds. So, you must rely on luck with your Daily Adventure Incense. Try to catch this fast Legendary before it escapes.
